“MY DOG PEE’S OUTSIDE THEN COMES INSIDE AND #2’s!!! WHATS WRONG WITH HIM???!!!!!”
“She goes into the dining room but she JUST WENT OUTSIDE!!!”
“This is the HARDEST DOG to potty train!”
“You CANNOT potty train this dog!!!”
“Oh he’s too old to potty train at this age…”
“He was really good about letting us know he has to go out(side), but now he’s having accidents in the house!”
Does any of this sound familiar? Has this been you??
These are the comments we hear from a majority of dog owners, and actually? Potty Training “challenges” are way more common than people realize. In fact… quite normal!
Dogs are creatures of rules, routine, hierarchy and habit and Potty Training can be one of those “establishment behaviors” that can make you give up on your dog… but don’t!!
Why?? Potty Training is not nearly as difficult as we make it out to be. It usually come down to being a “human issue” vs a dog issue. Now hold on! Before you leave, hear us out…
THERE ARE REASONS A DOG WILL OR WILL NOT USE THE BATHROOM OUTSIDE! And it is up to US to problem solve the “challenges” in play and create solutions to those “challenges.” Some of these reasons may be:
Age of the dog/pup
Size of the dog
Environment the dog (inside and outside)
Stage of development
Learned bad behaviors
Routine / Lack of Routine
Not developed or mal-developed sensory systems
In our Potty Training Seminar, we go over all of these AND MUCH MORE!! Including:
What is fact vs fiction that we’ve been told about Potty Training.
Why the internal physical / mental / emotional developments cause Potty Training difficulties.
There is no such thing as a dog that cannot be Potty Trained.
How to tell when Pottying is actual pottying or marking or a UTI.
Why you must make sure male dogs squat to pee and not lift their leg.
What is a healthy color of urin, and why this is important!
And quite a bit of other factors that complicate Potty Training that you may not be been aware of, and what to do about this very common yet significantly misunderstood topic!
